With the deafeat of Narga the sea monster, another good beast of Avantia had been freed-Sepron the sea serpent. The two friends leaped down onto the shingle, eager to be returned with their animal companions. Silverr the wolf let out a howl of the delight, and Storm, Tom's black stallion, reared up, neighing triumphantly.

Finally they saw Tusk. She was roaring and stemping among the crushed trees. Torn vines trailed from her limbs and hung over her broad back. Tom could see that she was too engrossed in her battle against the Snake ferns to spot the people creeping towards her.

The balcony immediately below Mr Hoppy's jutted out a good bit further from the building then his own, so Mr Hoppy always had a fine view of what was going on down there. This balcony belong to an attractive middle-aged lady called Ms Silver. Ms Silver was a window who also live alone. and although she didn't know it, it was she who was the object of Mr Hoppy's love. He had loved her from his balcony for many years, but he was a very shy man and he had never been able to bring to bring himself to give her even the smallest hint of his love.
